More books! (4-7)

Graveyard Girl. Not the best book ever. By a long shot.

Hope Chest. Much better. Like Ragtime for kids, more or less, set in the 20s

Rubert’s Rules for Dummies. Or possible Complete Idiots Guide. I forget which.

The Big Over Easy. This reminds me forcefully of The Watch in Ankh-Morpork, only, you know, fairy tales in modern times.

Book 3 etc

Josser. About a woman who works/ed in the circus but was not born to it. Gotten as research to continue my Mirrormask series. Helpful as such. Might make an interesting movie, if adapted right.

Appointment made with my new doctor (Assuming we get on)

Went to see Orange Opera (TS’s favorite local group) on Friday.  The Moneynotes opened for them.  They’re wicked good.  Sorta swing rockabilly.

Book Post ‘08: 1, 2

I’m calling the bit of Neverwhere I hadn’t finished a half book.  I really do love that ‘verse.  And Gaiman in general.  It’s just so clear that there are dozens of stories you’re only getting hints at, and, well, that’s just the way it is.

And the part of Fool Moon (Dresden 2) I hadn’t read as a full book.

I like Book-Harry, though he’s very not tv-Harry.  I’ll certainly be continuing with the series.

So, between the 3 parts-of-books, I’m calling it 2 whole books.

Book Post ‘08: .5

I’m only counting is as half a book, as I read much of it last year, but I finished my first book of the year:

The Alphabet Versus the Goddess: The Conflict Between Word and Image by Leonard Shlain

Interesting thesis (that becoming literate, as a society, unbalances the collective brain and leads to social badness).   Not sure I totally buy it, but, well, balance is nearly never a bad thing
